          Girls High School,Mt.Lavinia rewarded the 2nd place(silver award) from the O/L results in 2018 from 89 schools in the zone including the National schools.(Provincial schools-1st place.)All the credits goes for the principal, Mrs.Gayani Prinsley, who acted as the pilot of uplifting the standard of the students. All the vice and assistant principals, tutorial staff, school development society , old girls association and non academic staff also gave their fullest support to achieve this target.

          A seminar was conducted on the 24th of May 2018 on Microsoft Office 365 for teachers in the school. 25 teachers were attended and they were thought how to make use of Microsoft office 365 in their smart board learning. The seminar was conducted by the 2 lectures in the Head Start Pvt (Ltd).   Topics that were discussed in the seminar,   ·         Office 365 –Sway and Forms   ·         Microsoft Innovative Education Programme (MIE)   �

          The 94th B~day of Girls~ High School, Mt. Lavinia  celebrated her birth day under the patronage of the present principal Mrs. Gayani Princely. In addition  there was a whole night pirith chanting in order to invoke blessings of the triple gem to bless the students and the school staff. The Ex.           Annual Prize giving -2016 of Girls~ High School was held on 2nd of November 2017 at the school auditorium. The chief guest of this special occassion was Professor Anoja Fernando.           The inaugural Big Match, “Battle of the Greeple” between Princess of Wales College and Girls High School, Mt Lavinia was held on 5th of August 2017 at Prince of Wales College grounds. Girls High School, Mt Lavinia won the trophy.
